Awards & Achievements During My Creative Career

2018 - 2020

During my time studying at university I managed to gain two awards both in the field of editorial design. The first being shortlisted for the British Book Design and Production Awards student category in 2019 and then secondly gaining my International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) award in 2020.

BRITISH BOOK DESIGN AWARDS 2019

IT'S ABOUT TIME

2019 / 146 pages / Editorial, Print, Photography, Binding, Type

This was a 12 week editorial project looking in to the value of time in society which at the end was submitted for the British Book Design Awards. An hour to a nurse could have a different worth to someone who is on holiday. I delve deeper in to finding information out on the value of time and carried out interviews with different professions to give me content and so at the end of the book we could compare. For the presentation of the book you can see below I made a custom case that the book could slide into which was actually also a working clock to fit in with the theme of time. This project taught me a lot when it comes to editorial and also shortlisted me in to the final 5 for the awards.

ISTD AWARDS 2020

TWENTY SOMETHING

2020 / 20 pages / Editorial, Print, Photography, Binding, Type

In 2020 I submitted my entry for the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD). My chosen brief was numbers where we had to curate and design a typographic heavy publication based around this topic. After submitting a strong editorial piece for the the book awards I wanted to test myself for ISTD and take myself out my comfort zone and play around with technical elements and folds to design a more interactive piece. This publication shows how each number means or represents something different in the world around us rather than just its numerical value. I tried to show this through each page being a unique size colour and style.
